Stop Seaboard

Campaign to support the Ava Guarani and Kolla people of northern Argentina

Message from the Ava Guarani community of Tabacal to groups of International Solidarity

From Monica Romero Mburvicha, cacique/leader of the community:

I want to say that the organizations, that listen to us, to all the organizations that exist, I want to tell them that we need support. Up until now I have been very thankful, to those that are supporting us and this helps us keep up the struggle and so that we don't feel alone. And the support that everyone is going to give us will strengthen us and empower us to keep struggling to return to recuperate the land that is ours. Because we are nothing without land, we need it to live, we need it to strengthen ourselves, to develop our culture. For this, we need the land, and to live with dignity, to be independent, autonomous, and so that tomorrow the children can have a future. That is why I ask the organizations that listen to us, to support us.

From Eliseo Celzo Romero:

We are in this struggle, for the land, for the recuperation of our rights, and we need support from national and international organizations so that they can support us recuperate our land. Because for us the land is the most important thing that there is, because without land we aren't anything. We live by planting, agriculture, caring for animals, for this we need the land, for our families, because they don't have work, the children don't have an education. So we want to recuperate our land, because it is necessary for us.
